Damn Bank!

I would like to strangle my bank! Is it possible to strangle an institution?

They closed my account on the 27th of February. I found out today because my debit card was declined at the checkout counter of the grocery store.

I panicked because I have 2 direct deposits that enter my account, one on the 1st of the month and the 2nd on the 3rd of the month.

The bank agent on the phone was very nice. She informed me that my account was closed due to an identification issue, which I had already cleared up on February 10th. They can't just re-open my old account. They had to open a new account using all of my old information. How stupid is that? She said that all of my identification issues WERE in fact okay and there was no reason that my account should have been closed in the first place. We both think that someone didn't get the message that the identification for the account had been received and cleared. What a pain in the ass!

The bank agent was able to capture the direct deposit for today and put it into the new account. She will have to do the same thing tomorrow or Saturday depending on which day the next direct deposit comes in.

She also ordered new bank cards and checks for the new account without any charge. I told her that she was quick in changing all of this stuff over and she let me know that she has done this many times before and knows exactly what needs to be done. MANY TIMES? This better be the ONLY time that it happens to me!

The sucky part is that I don't have access to my money yet. I wanted to go grocery shopping today because we are supposed to get hit tonight and tomorrow with another storm that should drop 12-16 inches of snow. *sighs* I'm out of milk, bread, cheese, and sandwich meat. I do have food, so I'm okay for a week.

I just got off the phone with an automated system that took the change of my direct deposit information. The system verified everything except the routing number. I hope that it got it right. It made me speak everything and it didn't always get it right.

I now have to call all of the people that I have set up automatic debit payments and give them the new information.
