5 o'clock rolled around and nobody came home. At 6:30, I received a call from Paige saying that she was on her way home, but she was stuck in traffic. She said that Mark would probably get home before she would. She then told me that Mark would get home at 7. Okay, 30 more minutes and I could take off.
7 o'clock came and went without anyone relieving me. Mark finally walked in the door at 7:50 pm. I let Mark know that I fed the kids dinner and I put on my jacket and bolted out the door.
I wanted to get home quickly because right before I left to babysit, Dan announced that something was wrong, but he didn't want to go into it right then. I told him that I would like to talk about it as soon as I got back. The whole time I was watching the girls, I was watching the clock and wondering what was wrong.
I jumped online as soon as I got home and Dan was still on. It was Midnight where he was. He filled me in on what happened and I was stunned.
A good friend decided to cut off all ties to both Dan and I. Dan was upset and I did my best to provide comfort and support.
