What a day!

What a crappy day I've had today. To start things off, I misread the clock this morning, and thought it was an hour earlier than it was, so I just did some things to occupy my time until it was time to leave to get to my Doctor's appointment. When I glanced back at the clock later, I realized what I had done and ran out of the apartment and sped down the highway at 75 miles per hour when the posted limit was 65. I called the V.A. hospital and let them know that I was going to be about 30 minutes late to my appointment. The receptionist talked to the doctor, and the doctor said it would be fine. I drove over 90 miles with no problem. THEN... when I get into the town of Agusta, I run into a trap, where police were pulling over motorists left and right. I got caught doing 40 in a 25 MPH zone. I was only 5 miles from the V.A. hospital when I got pulled over. Grrr. I now have to pay a $172.00 speeding ticket in the next 20 days. The officer also pointed out that I didn't have a State Safety Inspection Sticker. I didn't even know there WAS such a thing. In California, we had smog emission inspections that we had to get every 2 years, but you couldn't get your car registered unless you passed the smog inspection first. AND, there was no stickers that needed to be placed on your windshield. How was I supposed to know? He gave me a verbal citation to get one immediately.

As I sat, waiting to get my ticket filled out by the officer, 15 more cars were pulled over by other officers! They sure made a lot of money today.

I called Dan and let him know on voice mail that I wouldn't be able to make it to his graduation, because I had no money left.

After coming unglued about the cost of the ticket, I called Mom. Who else? She told me to get the safety inspection done and she'd pay for it. So, things began to look up...a little.

I finally got to the VA and missed my appointment completely. Everyone was very understanding and the receptionist that I talked to on the phone, apologized for telling me to "hurry as fast as I could." Hehehe. Now everyone in the Mental Health wing of the hospital knows not to speed for the next few weeks.

My new appointment date is on June 21. Oh well.

After leaving the VA, I pulled into Midas and found out the State Safety Inspections were $12.50. Cool! That I had in my pocket. Uh, yeah.... Two things were found wrong. First, one of my front shocks was leaking oil and so both of the front shocks needed to be replaced. Second, some control arm needed to be replaced, to avoid my wheels from wobbling and possibly coming detached from the steering doo-kicky. He showed it to me and it was pretty bad. Total cost of repairs before passing inspection... $487. Plus, due to the control arm being bad, my front tires had flat spots on them and needed to be replaced, which Midas couldn't due because they don't sell tires.

I took the truck to Tire Warehouse and Cha-ching! $142 more to fork out for new tires. Aaaaahhhhhh!

I called Dan back and left a message, letting him know that I would be coming after all, since Mom came through and paid for all of today's expenses. YAY MOM!
